Naver’s ‘Delivery Guarantee’

From the end of December, Naver has been introducing a new service called ‘Delivery Guarantee.’ I believe this service represents an evolution in logistics compared to the logistics services previously provided by conventional e-commerce platforms, as it offers useful logistics information from the perspective of the customer rather than the service provider. In simple terms, while traditional platforms used to guarantee only the shipping time, such as ‘if you order by a certain time on weekdays, it will be shipped the same day,’ Naver now takes responsibility for the delivery until it reaches the customer. In reality, the crucial information that customers need isn’t just the shipping time but rather ‘when can I receive it?’ Many platforms provide estimated delivery times, but these are for reference only and do not guarantee the delivery arrival. If a delivery is delayed, customers are not interested in whether the cause is the brand, warehouse, or delivery service. In the event of a problem with the delivery of a product from the brand purchased through the Naver platform, customer dissatisfaction is squarely directed at the platform (Naver) and the brand.

In operating brand e-commerce, a prompt and accurate logistics operation is as important as the sales operation. Many brands use third-party logistics (3PL), but implementing the values pursued by the brand in logistics is not an easy task. The losses incurred from inadequate logistics operations can disappoint customers who have successfully made it to the final purchase conversion through extensive marketing and sales activities, emphasizing the need to avoid such losses.

For brands that do not possess their own logistics capabilities or are dissatisfied with their current 3PL partners, I recommend utilizing the logistics services established by e-commerce platforms such as Naver. Leveraging the platform’s own initiatives often provides significant advantages in exposure, allowing you to enjoy benefits beyond simple logistics operations within the platform.
